Day I rolled over in bed, stirred awake by the sound of thumping feet of the boys floor above us. I shot a glance at the alarm clock and blotted up. In spite of it being 7am we had overslept and now had to move at an exceedingly fast pace to get all packed. Given it was our last day and we would not spend another night the lodge had given us a dead line of 9am to get all our stuff out of our room. After getting all my bags packed I hurried outside to toss them in the trailer. Then I hurried back inside to catch breakfast a delicious meal of eggs, tater tots, and muffins. Stomach filled I grabbed my lunch and day pack and headed down to the library to meet my hiking group one last time before heading out on our final hike. I was feeling a little sad that the trip was over but nonetheless I put on a happy face remembering that we still had this one last hike out to a gorgeous waterfall surrounded by walls of trees and stones making it seem like we were in a special world all to ourselves. Suddenly our teacher said that we had to hurry out of here because the bus to take us back to town would be here soon and we needed to leave now to get back in time. From that point on we moved quickly not taking any breaks to stop and sketch. We made it back just in time the bus was pulling up when we got there. Thank the lords we made it in time. So it was that the adventure finally came to a close a weird feeling engulfed me a sad and happy feeling. As I boarded the bus I turned around to take one last look at the Cardigan lodge were I just spent some of the happiest days of my life.

Region, An Area Defined...

Did you know that there are five themes of geography? Included region! A region is a certain area that is defined by different characteristics. When we were at Cardigan we learned about the region of Cardigan Mountain. For example the Cardigan Summit is a region, defined by its steep rocks and glorious views. Another few examples of regions are the regions of forest we walked through on our hike through Cardigan. They are called boreal, hardwood, and alpine. Think of the layers as a burger, a plain burger. The bottom bun is the boreal region, the patty is the hardwood region, and the top bun is the alpine region. So not only did Cardigan give a great experience, it also taught me a great lesson about one of the five themes of geography!
